ONNO ROOS
Visual Artist
Onno Roos - 23 03 2002.
I work in the fields of visual art, music, graphic design, and videography.
My work is an expression, every work is a feeling i couldn't explain in words.

Often the work depicts religious motifs because i am drawn towards that sort of imagery. I frequently look to paintings from earlier periods, sampling them in a way similar to how hip hop artists sample existing music to create new beats.

SYMBIOSIS
GROUPS EXHIBITION
Amsterdam, Vrijpaleis. 2024

.jpg)

In october 2024, Wallplug collaborated with Gallery Barkie to host an exhibition at Vrijpaleis, Paleisstraat, Amsterdam. A true place of culture, the perfect place for us to bring together music & visual art.

Symbiosis explored the relationship between different artistic disciplines, cultures, and individual voices. The exhibition brought together a diverse group of visual artists, each contributing work that stood on its own while simultaneously interacting with the surrounding space and other practices. Participating visual artists included Onno Roos, STHOM,
Ard Doko, Barkie, Sames, Jaime Adan, Perzia, Tom Kiewra, Kasper Steernberg, Heru Widodo, Heru Priyono, Dennis Fandango & Cutnotslices.
Live performance by Wallplug with Tessa Rose, tays, DYANGO, Tommie Rose, and Ra's Vertigo and with the opening performance by Alexander Moto.

Symbiosis means living together. It describes a relationship in which different organisms, ideas, or systems coexist and influence one another in a way that strengthens the whole. This idea directly mirrors the core of Wallplug: a platform where music and art are not treated as separate disciplines, but as elements that can grow stronger through interaction. To us this is a great example of what we aim to do; create that world where art & music collide and to bring it to the people.

With collaboration as a core principle, I started Live Paint Crew SMEER! in 2023 together with friends and colleagues STHOM and Milan Nowak. During events, we work collectively on large-scale canvases. Together, we have exhibited at venues including Kunst in de Kas, A’DAM&Co. in the Amsterdam Tower, along the Prinsengracht in Amsterdam, Vrijpaleis, and All Caps / HipHop in je Smoel in Rotterdam.
"THE FACE MUSCLE"
as universal symbol
This face muscle is a rendering of a construction of the muscles in a humans face. The design by Onno Roos is used as a mascotte or emblem that symbolizes inclusiveness and carries a strong message: all is one
The Face Muscle represents what lies beneath the visible skin.
The medium of our expression,
connecting us all to our primitive state.
The Face Muscle is a universal symbol of humanity.
